Kamuli Farmers
Read how some farmers in Kamuli district describe the change in their lives after being given the opportunity to implement and adapt new agricultural knowledge.
CSRL works to train and support farmer groups through our partner VEDCO, an indigenous non-governmental organization, using a farmer-to-farmer extension approach which maximizes the number of farmers involved and increases sustainability.
The farmers listed below are also just some of the volunteer Rural Development Extensionists (RDEs) in Kamuli district. They were nominated by their groups to receive agricultural training, basic tools like shovels and wheelbarrows, and planting materials. In exchange, RDEs provide extension services to their group members and develop gardens at their homes to demonstrate agricultural practices and to provide good quality planting materials for their groups. Surplus produce is sold to benefit the group. Many RDEs also creatively adapt what they've learned, and develop their own innovations that further benefit the community.
