"Living and working in a rural village in Uganda helped me gain an even broader perspective of the world. I was able to learn more about tropical agriculture, sustainable agricultural development, challenges facing sub-Saharan Africa, and poverty, all while being fully immersed in the culture."

"One of the most important aspects of the trip was establishing a great working relationship between two universities and an NGO with staff on the ground in a rural area needing assistance and open to environmentally sound, sustainable development."

Max Rothschild, PhD, C.F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor in Agriculture

Director, Center for Integrated Animal Genomics; USDA National Pig Genome Coordinator

"I started working with Ugandan farmers because I recognized that a little help from people like myself can make a large impact in their everyday lives. My help with livestock production, providing them with the tools to feed their families, is already making a difference and bringing some economic security. In helping them, I too, receive an enormous benefit as I find real satisfaction in helping others find opportunities to improve their lives. Providing an animal and the knowledge to better use available resources to help these families is a real opportunity for all of us to better our world one family at a time."
