2007 Progress Report

In sustainable livelihoods, three primary factors must be present: food and nutrition security, diversified and sustainable income, and natural resource management. Our approach to the hunger crisis promotes access to resources, strengthens local capabilities and enhances local resources. We identify innovative approaches and foster processes that improve agriculture to make a positive long lasting difference in the lives of farm families and rural communities by preventing hunger now and building assets for future generations. We use both indigenous and scientific knowledge in training local community volunteers who in turn provide training and outreach to local farmer groups and community members. Our goal is to help farmers achieve food and nutrition security and then diversified and secure incomes.

Achieving sustainable livelihoods is a complex and challenging process. There are a multitude of interdependent factors that affect our success, which must be addressed simultaneously. The following links will guide you through the various CSRL activities and provide a summary of our progress.
